Dell Inspiron n5040 won’t power up, when I plug the charger the AC Adapter led turn off.

Problem: Dell Inspiron n5040 won’t turn on and when you plug the AC Adapter, the AC Adapter led turn off or blink, that is a common problem in Dell Inspiron n5040 caused by a short in SMD capacitor.

Solution Steps:

1) Test the laptop with a new power adapter.

2) Disassembly laptop and check the SMD capacitor shown in picture below:

If there is continuity the SMD capacitor is faulty, replace the SMD capacitor will solve the problem.

    replace by another capacitor have the same size and color, take it from any other motherboard

    I’m Sorry but I’m not repairing laptops so I don’t have another motherboard to take a similar one. So I would have to buy it.
